Curt Reimann

Curt Reimann (1987-1995) was a scientist, professor and former Director of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Biography Curt Reimann

Curt Reimann obtained his Bachelor’s degree (BSc.) in chemistry from Drew University and his doctorate (Ph.D.) in chemistry from the University of Michigan.

Curt Reimann began his career at the American NIST as a research chemist in 1962. Furthermore, he was Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at the University of Maryland for three years. During his career at NIST, Curt Reimann was promoted to Deputy Director of the National Measurement Laboratory (NML).

Earlier, he served as the Programme Manager and Scientific Assistant to the Director of Commerce. From 1987, Curt Reimann was the Director of the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award and the Director for Quality Programmes at the NIST. He fulfilled these positions until his retirement (1995). After his retirement, Curt Reimann still served the NIST. From his various roles such as chairman and advisor he was involved in the development of quality standards.

His other remarkable contributions were that he served organizations in the role of advisor such as The Conference Board, the National Alliance for Business, the University of Minnesota Juran’s Center for Leadership in Quality, the American Chemical Society and many more.

In 1989, Reimann was recognized by the Quality Review as one of the ten most influential figures in quality for 1988. After 1990, dr Reimann was the recipient of nominations and awards for his work and contributions.

In 1992 Reimann received the Distinguished Rank Award from President Bush. In 1993, he was named a ‘Fellow of the World Academy of Productivity Science.

In 1994, he received the Quality and Productivity Management Association’s Leadership Award.
